Marshes Edge
Marsh's Edge is an idyllic woodland garden, overlooking a marsh, the Puget Sound, and the Olympic Mountains. Set amid tall limbed-up Douglas firs, are examples of the use of natives and ornamentals that survive in the difficult conditions of dry shade, root competition, wind, deer, and rabbits. The garden was designed and developed by the homeowner. Over the last 28 years it has morphed from a showcase of many unusual species to a peaceful flow of plants that survive with less demands. Collections of Rhododendrons, Hydrangeas, Japanese Maples, and evergreen shrubs, ferns and groundcovers create structure in the garden, while flowering shade perennials and sculptural elements provide color and whimsy. Accessibility Challenges - Please note there is a steep driveway entering the garden, some steps without railings and uneven surfaces. |
