O-GA-EN 王雅園: by Patti King
A low maintenance Japanese garden located in a cluster housing development uses stone and evergreens to create a serene setting for the house and studio designed by local architect Matthew Swett. Masa Mizuno, formerly director of the Portland Japanese Garden, designed and installed the garden in 2014 and maintains it annually. The walled back garden was designed by the owner in collaboration with stone artist Hector Santos and provides a private space for summer entertaining and outdoor indigo dyeing.
