Heron's Rook
Walk through a cedar forest dotted with Japanese Maples and sculptures created by the homeowners to enter this high bluff property just on the edge of Langley, the Village by the Sea. Delights will unfold as you emerge from the forest to discover a guest cottage known as Heron’s Rook. Continuing down the sloped drive bordered by a tall bamboo hedge, you will encounter a new home sited thoughtfully within and around a Japanese-inspired garden that steps down from an outdoor dining terrace to a naturalized meadow. At meadow’s edge, two Adirondack chairs overlook a 180-degree view of Saratoga Passage and snow-capped Mount Baker. The magic of this place has to do with the ways the artist owners have crafted beautiful outdoor rooms via the interplay of forest, cultivated garden, architecture, and the splendor of our Pacific Northwest environment.
