Help Us Out!
The Whidbey Island Garden Tour (WIGT) is an all-volunteer organization, and we would love to include YOU! Volunteers are the heart of our organization. We welcome your participation on Tour Day, July 12, 2025. Your volunteer investment in the community benefits all by allowing WIGT to continue its mission to provide financial grants to those who create and improve sustainable environments on our beautiful Island. Please consider being a Day of Tour Volunteer. All Volunteers receive two free tickets for the Friday evening Pre-Tour.
Logistics Volunteers set up canopies and tables and parking signs prior to the Day of Tour and break down supplies at the end of tour on Saturday.
Lead Docents provide support to the Garden Host and recruit volunteers to help staff the garden for the Day of Tour.
Greeters take tickets at the garden entry, answer questions about the garden and offer direction. They also help recruit new volunteers with our sign-up sheet at the Greeter’s Table.
Party Helpers provide assistance with the volunteer party held after the tour to celebrate and thank our Garden Owners and all our Volunteers.
Parkers have fun in the sun! They use walkie talkies and achieve their step goal for the day. Plant knowledge is not required! Our rural environment presents a number of parking issues for garden visitors. Narrow roads, road obstructions such as drainage ditches, neighborhood access and county ordinances limit parking spaces. Road signage directs visitors to the garden locations, but limited parking spots require Parkers to assign spaces for visitors. Parkers are an essential part of the Volunteer piece. Please consider being a Parker.
Day of tour volunteer hours are from 9:30 am to 4:15 pm.
All volunteers attend a brief orientation meeting in their assigned garden prior to the tour. Volunteers receive two tickets to the Friday evening preview tour. Additionally, all volunteers are invited to the post-tour volunteer party. For more information, contact [email protected]
